Public health should be a way of doing justice, a way of asserting the value and priority of all human life.

Dan E. Beauchamp (1974)

I started my health knowledge journey 4 years ago by going through the Nutritional Therapy program.

Since then it’s been a wild and crazy journey into what it actually means to be healthy.

I ran sugar detox groups initially and focused on what to eat.

When I was looking for ways to help me with feeding my very picky 4 year old, I came across the work of Dr. Jillian Murphy and her amazing podcast series on feeding kids.

Everything got turned upside down, in a good way, when I learned more about Ellyn Satter’s Competent Eating Model, Intuitive Eating and the Health at Every Size® approach.

I still have some outstanding questions about health inequity and want to dig more into the research behind weight and health, which is why I’m starting graduate school this for a Master’s in Public Health through LSU Shreveport and LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport.

Ideally as a society, I’d like to see us break the association with weight and health so that everyone of all sizes can receive the medical care they deserve.
